Rosacea is a skin condition that can vary from mild to chronic that typically affects the skin on the face. Rosacea is most common in light to fair skin middle-aged women.

When someone is struggling with rosacea, it will be prominent on their cheeks, nose, chin and forehead. Sadly, rosacea is commonly mistaken for sensitive skin, acne, or allergic reaction. The symptoms of rosacea can vary from burning sensations, small cysts, swollen eyelids, dry & thick skin, bumps, swelling and red patches.

Depending on the severity of your rosacea the symptoms tend to come and go. Rosacea is unpredictable. The symptoms can stay for months but be gone for weeks to years and come back out of nowhere. Dermatologists still do not know the cause of rosacea. However, they do believe it may be due to inflammation of small blood vessels underneath the skin. Here are a couple of easy home remedies that will help minimize the symptoms of your rosacea.

Turmeric

Turmeric is used as a herb for foods, but it has so many good qualities even for your skin. The herb turmeric is an antiseptic and has amazing therapeutic and antibacterial qualities. You can use turmeric both externally and internally to reduce inflammation and the redness. Making a mask with turmeric can also decrease the redness and inflammation on your face. Mix in a teaspoon of turmeric with one large tablespoon of honey or plain yogurt until you get your desired consistency. Then apply a thin layer onto your clean face, and leave it on for 30 minutes. After your 30 minute wait, rinse off your turmeric face mask with warm water and pat dry. You should do this daily until most of your redness subsides, then at least three times a week. Another way to reap all the benefits of turmeric is to add a teaspoon to a warm glass of milk or water. If you drink this once in the morning and another at night you will improve your skin and overall health.

Organic Green Tea

Green tea is not only yummy, but is also a natural antioxidant, anticarcinogen, and anti-inflammatory all in one. Therefore, green tea will work hard to treat your rosacea. Organic green tea will decrease your skin’s breakouts and assist your skin’s reaction to the sunlight, causing red patches or swelling to subside. Just simply drinking organic green tea twice a day can help your skin. Green tea will keep your body and skin hydrated with its antioxidants to speed up the healing process. Make one cup of green tea and let it sit in your refrigerator overnight. Then soak a cloth into the cold tea up to an hour. After soaking, place it over your rosacea for at least 30 minutes to sooth your skin, decrease redness, swelling, red patches and breakouts.
