Revitalize With This DIY Orange Peel Skin Mask
With crazy hours, constant stress, and air that sucks the life out of your skin, it’s not a shock that many people around this time of year suffer from dry skin. When dry skin occurs, the main ingredient needed in a mask to help revitalize that lifeless skin is orange.
Oranges are very high in vitamin C, which aids in removing dead skin cells and helps regenerate new ones.
Also, since they are full of citric acid, they help with the removal of dirt from your pores and lowers pigmentation. Ingredients that can further help with dry skin are honey, milk, and almonds. Lactic acid in milk helps repair and tone dead skin. Honey has amino acids that help keep the skin soft and feeling like new. Vitamin E found in almonds promotes new skin cell growth. Since we now know how the orange based skin mask works, here is a recipe to get started.
Soak 4 to 5 almonds in a cup of water overnight. The next day, break the almonds down into a smooth paste.
Second, peel an orange and let the peels sit out in the sun. After the peels turn a brown color, crush them into a thin powder.
Next, take a bowl and add the orange powder with the almond paste. Add a teaspoon of honey and mix to a creamy texture with milk.
Make sure to clean your face using a mild soap before using the mask.
Apply a small amount of the mask on your face and neck avoiding your eyes. Allow it to stay on for 30 minutes. As soon as it dries, add a few drops of water to the mask, and rub your fingers in small circles across your face.
To close your pores back up, make sure to rinse the rest of the mask off with cold water and pat dry. Once it’s washed off, massage your face with a light moisturizer.
