According to Dr. Rachel Nazarin, a dermatologist at Schweiger Dermatology Group in New York City was speaking to Allure about blackheads. She says that they are a mix of oil and dead skin cell that sit in pores. They oxidize and turn black when due to the exposure to air. She also says not to go crazy when it comes to scrubbing your face. The blackheads don’t mean that you are dirty.

Though the blackhead won’t cause any health risks, they can negatively impact your self-confidence. Luckily, there are ways to treat these little buggers at home utilizing over-the-counter products. These products contain chemicals such as retinoids, salicylic acid, and benzoyl peroxide.
